Historic, Ancient City Of Agrigento Sicily...Just a Stone's Throw From A Lovely Beach In Porto Empedocle
Agrigento Sicily is a popular tourist attraction mainly because of its great archaeological history. It's also a supplier of agriculture for it's neighboring towns. One of my favorite sights in this city is the Valley of the Temples. Still today, it's the best proof of the Greek civilization in Sicily. With a countryside full of almond trees, you can't miss the amazing ruins of the temples. Even after hundreds of years, they still draw a crowd.

In the province of Agrigento is Porto Empedocle. I think it's beach has one of the most beautiful shorelines in the Mediterranean. Porto Empedocle Beach is 3 KM long and is a major tourist attraction in the city. If you see it, you'll understand why... A fine gold colored sand and a crystal clear sea, combines with the beautiful landscape to create a magical place.

Porto Empedocle's economy is based on fishing and industry. Population is about 18,000 people. There is a Saint Calogero feast in September and the Madonna del Carmine feast in July. Both are a lot of fun with great food and festivities. You'll fall in love with this beautiful place after just a short time. I know I did.
